Join us for a discussion about various aspects of legacy giving. Marci Hinthorne of the University of Washington Foundation will present on the various tools available for some lifetime and estate gifting tools. Resources available from the UW Foundation organization will be reviewed. Time permitting, case studies will be used to demonstrate various ways to utilize various giving strategies, including the use of trusts.

Marcie Hinthorne, Associate Director for Planned Giving.
For over to 18 years, current and prospective donors have worked with Marcie to establish planned gifts at the University of Washington. Coordinating with a donor’s advisors and UW development colleagues, Marcie identifies a gift plan that will meet both a donor’s philanthropic and financial goals. She has established simple bequest plans as well as dealt with complicated asset transactions. As part of her role as a Director of Planned Giving, Marcie has organized and taught planned giving topics to UW fundraisers as well as presented planned giving topics to local non-profit boards and at national and local conferences. Following a BBA in Finance, Marcie graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a joint JD/MBA. Her experience includes teaching finance and investment analysis at the University of Central Oklahoma; evaluating and negotiating the purchase and sale of real estate for Shurguard Storage Company; and negotiating construction contracts and managing lender relationships for California Investment & Development Company. Marcie is a current member of the Washington State Bar Association and an inactive member of the Oklahoma Bar Association.
